PRESS RELEASE

On March 28, 2016, the Orange County Child Abuse Unit. which is comprised of members from the New York State Police, Village of Goshen Police, City of Port Jervis Police and Orange County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 25 year old man for the class A Misdemeanor of Assault in the Third Degree and for the class A  Misdemeanor of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

State Police arrested and charged BRANDON DANIELS, 25 years old (dob 06/04/90) of  Slate Hill,  N.Y. following a report to the New York State Child Abuse Hotline.  The investigation was conducted over the course of several months in conjunction with the Orange County Department of Social Services – Child Protective Services. The investigation revealed that Mr. DANIELS, who was caring for the 7 year old boy in the Town of Wallkill, had struck the boy several times with his hands and fists, causing physical injury to the child. Initially Mr. DANIELS had convinced the child to fabricate how the injuries were sustained when he was interviewed by Child Protective Services. The case worker, suspicious of the child’s explanation on how the injuries occurred, referred the investigation to the Child Abuse Unit. The victim child ultimately disclosed that  had been struck numerous times by Mr. DANIELS because the he was not behaved in school that day.

Mr. DANIELS was issued an Appearance Ticket, to appear before the Honorable Patrick Owen, Town of Wallkill Court,  on April 6 at 9:00AM.
