State Police at Liberty Arrest Probationer for Possessing Loaded Handgun

PRESS RELEASE
On Friday March 25, 2016 State Police at Liberty arrested Joseph E. Somers, age 27 of Liberty after he was found to possess a loaded 9mm Sig Sauer pistol inside his home. The arrest and discovery of the weapon occurred when Troopers were assisting Sullivan County Probation officers during a routine home visit at Somers’ Liberty residence. Somers is under the supervision of Sullivan County Probation for unrelated offenses.
Somers was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, a felony. He was arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $35,000 cash bail.
