Bedford, New York – On March 27, 2016, the New York State Police at Somers arrested 18-year-old Christopher A. Guaman of Danbury, Connecticut for Attempted Robbery 1st Degree, a class C felony.

On March 27, 2016, at approximately 4:00 p.m, a family traveling in their vehicle pulled over onto the shoulder of State Route 172 in the Town of Bedford to take a break from driving.  While resting in their vehicle, Guaman opened the driver’s side door and threatened the operator with a knife in an attempt to car-jack the vehicle.  The victim was able to suddenly drive-off and report the incident to two Troopers out on patrol.  Troopers Timothy Finnegan and Paul Sansone immediately canvassed the area and located Guaman who was taken into custody after a short foot chase.

Guaman was arraigned in the Town of Bedford Court before Hon. David A. Menken and remanded to Westchester County Jail without bail.  He is scheduled to reappear in Bedford Court on March 30, 2016 at 7:00 p.m.

The State Police were assisted at the scene by the Town of Bedford Police.
