State Police arrest fugitive from Columbia County

? ????On March 16, 2016, the New York State Police arrested IAN M. SMITH, age 36, of Hudson, N.Y. on several charges. State Police along with the City of Hudson Police Dept and The Greene County Sheriff’s Office had been looking for SMITH who was wanted by The Hudson Police Dept on warrants for Failing to Appear for Sentencing in the Columbia County Court, Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th. SMITH had been sentenced in absentia to four years in State Prison on January 5, 2016 and has been in hiding since.? Information was developed that SMITH was in the area and eventually located him at Pine View Garden Apartments in the Town of Athens. At the time of his arrest SMITH was also found in possession of approximately 7.5 grams of Cocaine, 10.9 grams of Crack and 11.9 grams of Heroin. As a result, SMITH was charged in Greene County with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd (a class B Felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th( a class C felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th(a class A Misdemeanor), and Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd (a class A Misdemeanor). ?SMITH was arraigned before T/J Pazin in the Town of Athens Court and was committed to the Greene County Jail with no bail.
