Obituary, Morris J. ‘Mike’ Miller

 

Pawling – Morris J. ‘Mike’ Miller, of Pawling, NY, died Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Danbury Hospital Center, Danbury, CT. He was 85 years old.

Mr. Miller was born on June 12, 1930 in Ellenburg, NY, son of the late Wesley and Mamie (Tourville) Miller. Mike graduated from Ellenburg Central High School in 1948. Following high school he honorably served in the US Army from 1951-1953.

On March 11, 1951 he married Norma Elceser at in New Caanan, CT.

Mr. Miller worked in equipment maintenance for IBM in East Fishkill, NY for almost 30 years. Following IBM he worked at Hunt Country Furniture in Wingdale, NY for over 10 years.

He was a former member of the Pawling Fire Department and Holmes – Whaley Lake Civic association and a member of the Hasler – Kamp Post of the American Legion in Pawling. He was an active member of the Holmes United Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening and attending grandchildren’s sporting events. He was UCONN women’s basketballs biggest fan.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Norma, his 2 children; James M. Miller and his wife Malda of Pawling and Janice M. Hackett and her husband Jeffrey of Pawling; 9 grandchildren, Mary Shelley, Robert Rompon, Michael Miller, Nicholas Miller, Richard Miller; Jessica Pulford, Matthias Hackett, Margo Hackett; 8 great grandchildren with one on the way. Also his sister; Annabelle Campbell of Churubusco, NY. He was predeceased by his 3 brothers, Harold, Gerald and Roland Miller and 3 sisters, Joan Bouchard, Eldora and Evaline McDonald. Also his grandson Thomas Miller.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 11, 2016 at 3 PM at  23 South Street, Patterson, NY. Interment will follow at Pawling Rural Cemetery, Pawling, NY. Visitation will be prior to the service on March 11, 2016 from 1-3pm at the funeral home at 23 South Street, Patterson, NY.Contributions in Mike’s memory may be made to the Holmes United Methodist Church, P.O.
