Obituary, Cynthia Ann Waaler

 

 

Cynthia Ann Waaler, 75, a longtime resident of Amenia, NY died on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Sharon Health Care Center in Sharon, CT. Mrs. Waaler, with her husband, managed and operated a farm in Pine Plains, NY. She also was a secretary at the Barlow School in Amenia and was a cafeteria aide at the Webutuck Central School District for many years. In her retirement, she continued at Webutuck as a bus aide in the transportation department.

Born on April 29, 1940 in Goshen, NY she was the daughter of the late William and Dorothy (Goodfellow) Bowen. Mrs. Waaler was a graduate of Millbrook High School and the Krissler Business Institute in Poughkeepsie, NY. On April 22, 1961 in Millbrook, NY she married Edgar Waaler who survives at home.

Mrs. Waaler was an avid reader, and enjoyed crosswords and regular trips to casinos. Together with her husband as a member of the Harlem Valley Car Club, she enjoyed antique cars and shows, and was a league bowler for many years at Washington Lanes and later in New Milford, CT.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Waaler is survived by her children, Robert Waaler and his wife, Karin, of Sweden, and Edgar Waaler of Slingerlands, NY. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Christian, Nicholas, Richard and Kirsten Waaler, all of Sweden, and her sister-in-law Elaine Murray and nephew Eric Murray.

Calling hours will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral services will be private.
