Putnam Valley, New York – On February 28, 2016, New York State Police from the Stormville barracks were dispatched to investigate a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred on the Taconic State Parkway between Bryant Pond Road and Peekskill Hollow Road.

An investigation revealed that a group of approximately 6 motorcycles were traveling northbound at a high rate of speed.  The lead motorcyclist failed to negotiate a turn in the roadway and subsequently lost control of his bike, striking the center guide rail. The motorcyclist, 22-year-old Arturo J. Valenti of Queens, New York, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Several northbound vehicles reduced their speed after witnessing the crash.  A second motorcyclist struck the rear of a car and was ejected from his motorcycle.  Steven Garciaarcila,  23 years old, of Maspeth, New York, was transported to Hudson Valley Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
