State Police in Cortlandt arrested 11 protesters blocking the entrance to the Algonquin Pipeline worksite

Cortlandt, New York – On February 29, 2016 at approximately 6:50 a.m., New York State Police from the Cortlandt barracks responded to two separate locations for a report of protesters blocking the entrance to the Algonquin Pipeline worksite.

State Police advised the protestors who were blocking the pipeline entrance on Broadway and also on 9th Street in Verplanck that if they failed to leave the locations and allow workers to enter the site, they would be arrested.

As a result, 11 protesters were charged with Disorderly Conduct, a Violation, after they failed to comply with a lawful order.   All protesters were issued appearance tickets directing them to appear before the Town of Cortlandt Justice Court on March 11, 2016 and released from police custody.
