Putnam Valley, New York – On February 28, 2016, New York State Police from the Stormville barracks were dispatched to investigate a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred on the Taconic State Parkway between Bryant Pond Road and Peekskill Hollow Road.

An investigation revealed that a group of approximately 6 motorcycles were traveling northbound at a high rate of speed.  The lead motorcyclist failed to negotiate a turn in the roadway and subsequently lost control of his bike, striking the center guide rail.  The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Several northbound vehicles reduced their speed after witnessing the crash.  A second motorcyclist struck the rear of a car and was ejected from his motorcycle.  The motorcyclist was transported to Hudson Valley Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The names of the motorcyclists are being withheld pending notification to their families.
