Obituary, Patrick Joseph Caldarelli

 

Patrick Joseph Caldarelli, 62, a longtime resident of Amenia, NY passed away Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. Mr. Caldarelli was a former flood control site supervisor for the US Department of Agriculture and the Dutchess County Soil & Water Conservation District.

Born on May 21, 1953 in Sharon, CT he is the son of Ellen (Downey) Caldarelli and the late Pasquale Caldarelli. Pat attended the Immaculate Conception School in Amenia, NY and graduated from Webutuck Central School District, class of 1971. Pat later received an Associate’s Degree in Applied Sciences from Dutchess Community College, class of 1973. He was also a member of the Amenia Fire Company and a parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Church in Amenia, NY.

Pat took great interest in the environment. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper. He also loved sports especially soccer and baseball. He played on many championship baseball teams from Little League up through College. During college, Pat was named an All-Conference Athlete.

In addition to his mother, Pat is survived by a brother, Glenn Caldarelli of Amenia, NY; Aunts, Catherine Gallagher of South Windsor, CT and Mary Ellen Downey of Amenia, NY; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides his father, Pat was predeceased by a sister, June Caldarelli and his sister-in-law, Jill Caldarelli.

Calling hours will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, February 22, 2016 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral services will follow at 12 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Kent Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Amenia, NY.
