24-Year-old Pawling man arrested following crash investigation – heroin and hypodermic needles

Pawling, New York – On February 13, 2015, New York State Police from the Dover barracks charged William M. Vitro, 24 years old, of Pawling, New York, with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, Operating a Motor Vehicle Impaired by Drugs, and Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument, all Misdemeanors.

Troopers were dispatched by Dutchess County 911 to investigate a one-car property damage auto accident that occurred on Route 22 in the area of Ingersol Chevrolet. Investigation revealed that Vitro was traveling north on State Route 22 when he exited the roadway and stuck a snow bank.

While Troopers interviewed Vitro, he displayed clues that indicated he was impaired by drugs. He was also found to possess approximately 6 grams of heroin and hypodermic needles.

A State Police Drug Recognition Expert was utilized to confirm that Vitro was impaired by drugs.

Vitro was issued traffic tickets ordering him to appear before the Town of Pawling Court on February 26, 2015 at 6:30 p.m.
