Carmel Woman Charged With Cocaine Sales

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Town of Carmel woman following a 2 month long investigation into cocaine sales in the Towns of Carmel and Southeast.

In December of 2015, a deputy assigned to the Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU) developed information that a female subject was engaging in cocaine sales within the county. The deputy was able to arrange for the purchase of the drug on several occasions. On February 5, 2016, members of the NEU located the subject at her residence and took her into custody.

Brittany Rubino, 22, of Weber Hill Road, Carmel was arrested and charged with multiple counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a felony; and with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a felony. Ms. Rubino was arraigned before the Honorable Thomas Jacobellis of the Town of Carmel Justice Court and committed to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,000.00 cash bail pending a future court appearance.

If found guilty of the felony charges, the defendant could face up to 25 years in a New York State Correctional Facility and a fine of up to $30,000.00.
