Mahopac Man Charged With Criminal Contempt

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Mahopac man on a charge of Criminal Contempt.

On February 1, 2016, Deputy Sheriff Thomas Des Jardins received a complaint from a Mahopac woman who reported that on January 22 of this year, she was involved in a physical dispute with her boyfriend, identified as Wilfredo Reyes, 33, of 928 South Lake Boulevard, Mahopac. The woman reported that Mr. Reyes’ conduct was in violation of a Putnam County Family Court-issued order of protection against Mr. Reyes on behalf of the woman. The woman indicated that she wished to file criminal charges against Mr. Reyes. On February 2, the deputy located Mr. Reyes, arrested and charged him with Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree, a misdemeanor. On February 3, the defendant was arraigned before Town of Carmel Justice Joseph Spofford and committed to the Putnam County Correctional Facility pending a future court appearance.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00.
