Fishkill man arrested following one-car collision

Wappinger, New York – On February 2, 2016, New York State Police from Wappinger charged 22-year-old Matthew R. Herring, of Fishkill, New York, with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree and Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument, all Misdemeanors.
Troopers were dispatched by Dutchess County 911 to investigate a one-car auto collision that occurred on Route 9 in Wappinger. Following an investigation conducted by the responding officers, it was discovered that Herring was traveling northbound on State Route 9 when he exited the roadway and stuck a curb. Herring, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He was charged with possessing heroin and a hypodermic needle, in addition to DWAI drugs.
The defendant was issued traffic tickets directing him to appear before the Town of Wappinger Court on February 23, 2016 at 5:30 p.m.
