Carmel Man Faces Multiple Charges

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Carmel man on variety of charges following a domestic dispute.

On January 31, 2016 at 12:24 a.m., Deputy Sheriff Kevin Radovich responded to a report of a physical dispute at 29 Fowler Avenue in the Town of Carmel. Upon arrival, a woman at that location reported that her boyfriend, identified as Emile D. Latuheru, 53, of that address had choked, punched and pulled the woman’s hair during a dispute. During the investigation, the deputy further determined that Mr. Latuheru was in possession of quantities of cocaine and marijuana. The deputy arrested Mr. Latuheru and charged him with Criminal Obstruction of Breathing or Blood Circulation, a misdemeanor; Assault in the Third Degree, a misdemeanor; Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, a misdemeanor; and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a violation. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, the defendant faces up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00 for each charge.
