Poughkeepsie woman arrested for unlawfully collecting unemployment benefits

Poughkeepsie, New York – On January 26, 2016, New York State Police from the Poughkeepsie barracks arrested 27-year-old Heather C. Rogers of Poughkeepsie, New York, for Grand Larceny in the 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony, Offering a False Instrument for Filing 1st Degree, a Class E Felony, and Falsifying Business Records in the 1st Degree, a Class E Felony.

The arrest is the result of a joint investigation conducted by the New York State Department of Labor and the New York State Police.

Rogers is accused of stealing over $6,000 in unemployment benefits between March of 2012 and July of 2012.   She created false business records by certifying weekly that she was unemployed when in fact she was gainfully employed.

Rogers was arraigned before the Town of Pleasant Valley Justice Court and released on her own recognizance.  She is due to appear in the Town of Poughkeepsie Court on February 2, 2016.
