Dear Parents and Friends: 
 
  • Due to impending inclement weather, all school activities scheduled fortomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 23, have been canceled and our buildings will be closed. 
  • School breakfast is an ideal solution on mornings when kids are running late or parents have early commitments. Whatever the reason, if breakfast at home is not convenient, please take advantage of breakfast in our schools.
  • If you have not already done so, we ask that parents and students take ourtechnology surveyInformation gleaned from this survey will assist us in assessing technology use for learning. Please note: Results are not shared with outside organizations.
  • The annual community basketball shootout, sponsored by the Carmel Rotary Club and CHS Interact Club, takes place on Saturday, March 12 from 9am to 12 noon in the CHS Gym.   • The CHS Science Club’s High School Science Fair Exhibit, has been postponed due to impending inclement weather (originally scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 23) New details to follow.
  • CHS Job Fair, open to all CHS students, on February 10, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Casey Hall. Part-time employment, summer employment, internships, volunteer opportunities!
  • Carmel Baseball Hitting Clinic, every Wednesday at All Star Batting, 3 Dunham Dr., New Fairfield, CT. $10/week per player. For 10-12th graders: 3-4 pm; For 7-9 graders: 4-5 pm. For info: 203 312-0933.
  • Seniors wishing to apply for scholarships to be given on Senior Awards Night (in June) must complete and submit an application by March 16, 2016. The application can be found in each student’s “About Me” tab in Naviance. No late entries will be accepted. For questions, students can contact Mrs. Petersen or Mrs. Vest at CHS.

George Fischer Middle School News
  • The GFMS Ice Ball is TONIGHT, Friday, January 22 from 7-9:30 p.m. at GFMS. Semi-formal dance for 7th &8th graders. Tickets sold at the door, $10/pp. Price includes dinner and beverages. Students must be in school on today in order to attend this event.
  • SAVE THE DATE:  The GFMS Players will be performing Shrek Jr, The Musical, onFriday, Jan. 29 at 7pm, Saturday, Jan. 30 at 2pm and Sunday, Jan. 31 at 2pm in the GFMS auditorium. Tickets sold at the door. $5/children & students; $10/adults
  •  Join the GFMS PTA! Membership is just $10. The PTA supports many quality programs throughout the year that benefit students.

  • Yearbooks are available for purchase at www.yearbookordercenter.comusing code #20839. Cost is $25 through March 31; $30 after March 31. Quantities are limited. NOTE: Fourth graders receive a free yearbook, courtesy of the MPES PTO! 
  • Business ads are available in the MPES yearbook. The yearbook program at MPES is a non-profit function, benefiting students. Consider participating n this by uploading your business card size ad at yearbookordercenter.com using code #20839, select buy yearbook ad, select business ad only and follow the prompts. Ads are $50 each and are due by February 1, 2016. Your support is appreciated.
  • MPES Snowflake Dance is Friday, January 29 from 7-9 pm in the MPES Gym. MPES students only. $7/student. Come dance the night away with DJ Joe and enjoy some light snacks. This is a drop off event only. Form (found in Peachjar) and payment must be received by January 25. Not late ticket purchases and no tickets sold at the door. Contact the MPES PTO with questions.
  • The MPES School Store has great new items for the new year. All items are $1 or less. Mark you calendars, upcoming school store dates are Feb. 5, Feb. 26 and March 18.
  • MPES Spiritwear is in and available for purchase. Amazing, comfy sweatshirts, t-shirts, etc. Buy some Spiritwear today for your favorite MPES student! Contact the MPES PTO for more info.
  • Want to send a little sweet treat to your child or child’s teacher? Candygram flyers have gone home. Orders are due Jan. 27 to the PTO. No late orders will be accepted.
