Strawberry Fields Farm announces the forthcoming program for Community Supported Agriculture of CSA

Sherman, CT January 8, 2016. Strawberry Fields Farm announces the forthcoming program for Community Supported Agriculture of CSA. Up to 24 weeks of farm fresh organic fruit, vegetables, herbs, and flowers weekly, commencing May 14 through October 22. Weekly satchels to contain in May: strawberries, lettuce, maple syrup, etc.; June – Aug., blueberries, broccoli, carrots, etc.; Sept. – Oct., tomatoes, melons, squash, etc.

Most crops sold in the U.S. are grown with the aid of synthetic chemicals including pesticides, fertilizers, herbicides and fungicides. Toxic residues from these chemicals are found on conventionally grown fruit and vegetables. The Food Quality Protection Act (1996) recognizes that many of the chemicals present unacceptably high health risks, particularly to infants and children. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, 60% of herbicides, 90% of fungicides and 30% of insecticides are carcinogenic.

This pre-revolutionary era property was established as a diary and strawberry farm. Today after much restoration it is once again an active organic farming operation. “We are excited to be able to offer an organic community supported agriculture program to our friends and neighbors,” said Strawberry Fields Farm founder Carol Royal.
