Obituary, Mary E. Finnerty

 

Dover Plains – Mary E. Finnerty, 89, a mother of seven, grandmother to eleven and a great-grandmother of one, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2016 at Somers Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Somers, NY.

Born on November 3, 1926 in New York, NY she was the daughter of the late Valentine and Ellen (Torpey) Heckelmann. On September 30, 1951 in Queens, NY she married William E. Finnerty who predeceased her on October 22, 2010. Mrs. Finnerty was a member of the Dover Wingdale Senior Citizens Club.

Mrs. Finnerty is survived by her four daughters, Kathleen Berman of Levittown, NY, Eileen Finnerty of Poughkeepsie, NY, Mary Ellen Modico and her husband, Kenneth of Putnam Valley, NY and Patricia Sieber and her husband, Robert, of Mahopac, NY and two sons, William Finnerty and his wife, Karen of Dover Plains, NY and James Finnerty and his wife, Angie, of Queens, NY. She is also survived by a brother, Valentine Heckelmann of Pennsylvania. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Finnerty was predeceased by her daughter, Joanne and her grandson, Nicholas Modico.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 11, 2016 at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 62 Mill St., Dover Plains, NY. Burial will follow at St. Charles Cemetery.
