State Police arrest man from Washingtonville, N.Y. following a report to the New York State Child Abuse Hotline.

PRESS RELEASE

On 01/07/16  the Orange County Child Abuse Unit. which is comprised of members from the New York State Police, Village of Goshen Police, City of Port Jervis Police and Orange County Sheriff’s Office arrested a  21 year old Washingtonville man for the class C Felony of Use of a Child in a Sexual Performance, the class A Misdemeanor of Coercion in the  2nd degree and for the class the A Misdemeanor of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

State Police arrested and charged TIMOTHY RYERSON, 21 years old (dob 12/25/94) of  Washingtonville, N.Y. following a report to the New York State Child Abuse Hotline.  The two month investigation was conducted in conjunction with the Orange County Department of Social Services – Child Protective Services. The investigation revealed that Mr. RYERSON had befriended the victim, a female less than 16 years old, using a fictitious name and photograph,  via several social media outlets.. Over one year past since gaining her friendship and at some point he began threatening  to physically harm her parents and siblings if she did not expose the intimate parts of her body to him. The victim, fearing for the safety of her family, complied with RYERSON’s demands. The victim  ultimately disclosed to an adult what had been happening to her and the adult contacted the N.Y.S. Child Abuse Hotline.  Mr. RYERSON and the victim have never met and do not know each other.

Mr. RYERSON was arraigned before the Honorable Stephen Smith, Village of Washingtonville Court,  and remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $20,000.00 cash bail or $60,000.00 secured bond. Judge Smith ordered Mr. RYERSON to reappear before the Washingtonville Village Court on 01/13/16 @ 5:00PM .  An Order of Protection was issued on behalf of the victim.
