Obituary, Rachel Lynn Antunovich

 

Clinton Corners – Rachel Lynn Antunovich, 24, a lifelong Clinton Corners resident, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at the Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital of Westchester County Medical Center.

Born October 2, 1991 in Peekskill, she was the beloved daughter of Robert and Sally Vasta Antunovich.

Rachel was a 2010 graduate of Millbrook High School and member of the Reach Out Church in Hyde Park. She was currently a Pharmacy Technician for Walmart in Kingston.

Rachel loved the ocean and its wildlife, especially manta rays. She was proud to be one of two finalists (from over 600 people) to be selected to volunteer in Australia with the Mantas Ray Marine Megafauna Foundation to share her love.

Rachel had a loving and caring heart. She reached out to those who suffered from depression. She believed in being kind, gentle and loving to all those who hurt.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandparents, Salvatore and Patricia Vasta of Croton; Aunts and Uncles, Frances Esposito (Joe), Linda Crawford (Tom), Frank Antunovich, Joyce Antunovich, Tom Vasta (Leslie), Bob Vasta (Kathy), Anthony Vasta (Carol), Salvatore Vasta (Linda), Frank Vasta (Renee), Michael Vasta (Sharon), and Patricia Vasta; many cousins; and fiancé, Philip Sofokles of Saugerties.

She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Frank and Marie (Nonnie) Antunovich.

Calling hours will be from 9 to 11 am, Saturday, January 2, 2016 at the Reach Out Church, 241 Crum Elbow Rd, Hyde Park, NY.

Funeral services will follow at 11 am at the church.

Burial will be in the family plot in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
