Putnam Valley Man Faces Felony Charges

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Putnam Valley man on felony charges following a criminal investigation.

On December 5, 2015, a Carmel resident reported that her purse and credit cards had been stolen from her vehicle overnight. It was subsequently determined that the perpetrator had used the stolen credit cards to purchase merchandise at various locations. An investigation revealed the identity of the suspect as Thomas Reilly, aged 21, of 426 Pudding Street, Putnam Valley. On December 12, 2015, members of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) located and arrested Mr. Reilly, who was charged with Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree and with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree, felonies. The defendant was arraigned before Town of Carmel Justice Joseph Spofford and committed to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,500.00 cash or bond pending a future court appearance.

If found guilty of the felony charges, the defendant could face up to four years in a New York State Correctional Facility and a fine of up to $5,000.00.
