Poughkeepsie man charged after fleeing

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of David S. Green, age 28 of Poughkeepsie, for various charges stemming from failure to comply which occurred on 12/19/15 at approximately 2:10 am.

On the above date and time Sheriff’s Deputies attempted to stop a vehicle on Main Street in the City of Poughkeepsie, at which time the operator failed to comply. This continued for a short while until the operator, later identified as Mr. Green, jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot. A short time later a Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit arrived on the scene and conducted a K-9 track, which led to Mr. Green being located hiding behind a nearby garage. Mr. Green was taken into custody, and a passenger in the vehicle was released without being charged.
During the investigation Mr. Green was also found to allegedly be in possession of several bags of suspected heroin, and at this time he has been charged with the following (all misdemeanors):

  1. Criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th degree
  2. Unlawfully fleeing a police officer 3rd degree
  3. Reckless driving
  4. Aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle

During processing it was discovered that Mr. Green was wanted by the City of Poughkeepsie Police on a warrant for drug offenses, and so he was turned over to them for arraignment. As with any criminal case, the charges described above are merely accusations and Mr. Green is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
