Matthew Matteo competes for SUNY Oneonta men’s soccer team

ONEONTA, NY (12/18/2015)– Matthew Matteo, a Senior majoring in Business Economics from Millerton, NY played for the SUNY Oneonta men’s soccer team this fall.

The Red Dragons finished the season with an overall record of 19-3-2 while going 8-1 in the SUNYAC. The team captured its fourth conference title in the last five years while qualifying for the NCAA tournament for the fifth year in a row. In the NCAA tournament Oneonta advanced to its second straight national championship weekend, falling to the eventual national champion Amherst in penalty kicks in the semifinals.

Matthew earned second team All-SUNYAC honors this fall. He played in 19 games this season and started in 18 of them. He recorded two assists for a total of two points.

SUNY Oneonta supports 21 varsity teams and is a member of the SUNYAC Conference while competing at the NCAA Division III level. The state-of-art athletics facilities include a field house and two field turf fields.
