Mount Vernon man charged with entering Green Haven Correctional Facility with dangerous contraband

PRESS RELEASE

Beekman, New York – On December 16, 2015, New York State Police from the Poughkeepsie barracks arrested 36-year-old Jafari R. Fray, of Mount Vernon, New York, for Promoting Prison Contraband in the 1st Degree, a Class D Felony.

Troopers were contacted to assist the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision Office of Special Investigations with the arrest of Fray, who entered the Green Haven Correctional facility to visit an inmate with a razor blade. Troopers placed Fray into custody and transported him to Troop K Headquarters for processing.

The New York State Police were assisted by the NYS DOCCS Office of Special Investigations.

Fray was arraigned in the Town of Beekman Justice Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond. They are scheduled to appear before the Town of Beekman Court on January 14, 2016 at 6:00 p.m.
