Man Charged in Stabbing in Patterson

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports that a dispute between two men in a Patterson apartment late Wednesday evening (December 9th ) ended with one man stabbing the other in the head with a knife.

Mr. Victor Manuel Molina-Alfado, aged 41, was charged with assault in the first degree, a felony, after he allegedly stabbed the victim, a 21-year-old male resident of the apartment, located on Route 311 in Patterson. The defendant, who is a citizen of El Salvador, gave a local address of Route 301 in Carmel.

A caller to 911 reported a disturbance in the apartment at about 10:15 PM on Wednesday. Sheriff’s deputies went to the residence and there they found the victim, who was bleeding from a laceration to his head, and Mr. Molina-Alfado, who was unconscious from apparent alcohol intoxication. The victim told deputies that Mr. Molina-Alfado had stabbed him. Deputies recovered a knife from the scene.

Both men were taken from the scene by ambulance. The victim’s wound was treated at Danbury Hospital, where his injuries were deemed not to be life-threatening. Mr. Molina-Alfado was taken to Putnam Hospital Center because of his apparent alcohol intoxication and, after being evaluated by doctors, he was discharged in the custody of deputies.

The defendant was later arraigned on the assault charge before Patterson Town Justice Mole, who remanded him to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $250,000.00 cash bail or $500,000.00 bail bond. Federal immigration officials were notified of the defendant’s arrest, based upon his status as a foreign national.
