State Police investigate 2 car fatal motor vehicle accident

On December 10th, 2015, the New York State Police in Catskill investigated a fatal motor vehicle accident on Route-9W in the Town of Athens. The accident occurred at approximately 9:30am. Carolyn Torres, age 27, of Germantown, NY, was the sole occupant in a 2014 Honda Civic traveling southbound when her vehicle collided with a 2013 Peterbilt Commercial Truck that was traveling northbound. Preliminary investigation indicates that Torres’ vehicle veered over the double yellow line striking the truck head on in the northbound lane. Torres succumbed to her injuries on scene. The operator of the truck was uninjured. First responders included the Catskill Fire Company, West Athens Fire Company and Greene County EMS.
