Obituary, George H. Williams Jr.

 

MILLBROOK – George H. Williams Jr., 85, of Millbrook, NY passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at his residence. Born in Poughkeepsie on April 23, 1930, he was the son of the late George H. Williams Sr. and Ruth M. Benson. George served his country with the US Army during the Korean War.

On November 27, 1953 he married Gladys P. Wendover at Verbank Methodist Church. George was employed as a painter for Joseph Velletri’s Sons, Inc. for many years until his retirement. He was an avid Mets fan and loved to hunt and fish.

He is survived by his wife Gladys Williams who resides at home; his 3 daughters, Kathleen Truex (Marshall) of Pleasant Valley, Sharon Mechare (Joe) of Otis, MA., and Ruth Kane of Pleasant Valley; his son, Charles Williams (Darlene) of Verbank; his grandchildren, Boomer LaBombard,Wayne LaBombard, Barb LaBombard, Michael Rhodes, Matthew Lawrence, Mitchell Lawrence, Steven Kane and Sarah,Charlie and Celina Williams; 9 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 28 from 11 am – 1 pm at  3270 Franklin Ave., Millbrook. Burial with military honors will follow in Verbank Cemetery.
