Holmes Man, New Jersey Woman Face Drug Charges

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Holmes man and a woman from New Jersey on drug charges.

On November 9, 2015 at 11:52 p.m., while patrolling Route 311 in the Town of Patterson, Deputy Sheriff Vincent Dalo was nearly struck by an oncoming vehicle that had crossed into his lane of travel. The deputy stopped the vehicle and, upon approach, detected the odor of marijuana emanating from the interior of the vehicle. The deputy determined that the driver, identified as Ryan J. Hebert, 20, of 290 Ludingtonville Road, Holmes was in possession of a controlled substance and a fraudulent State of Connecticut drivers license. A passenger in the vehicle, identified as Lauren I. Onello, 19, of 194 Scenic Lakes Road, Sussex, New Jersey was determined to be in possession of quantities of marijuana and a controlled substance. The deputy arrested the two subjects. Mr. Hebert was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree and with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Third Degree, misdemeanors. Ms. Onello was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, a misdemeanor; and with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a violation. The defendants were processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, the defendants could each face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00.
