Traffic stop leads to drug possession and DWI arrest

Somers, New York – On November 15, 2015, New York State Police from the Somers barracks arrested Michael J. Gaunt, 52 years old, of Mahopac, New York, for Driving While Intoxicated, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana.

Troopers were dispatched to assist Somers Police Department with a traffic stop on Route 6. Pursuant to an investigation conducted by the arresting officer, it was determined that Gaunt was intoxicated at the time of the stop.  He was also charged with unlawfully possessing marihuana and oxycodone.

Gaunt was issued appearance tickets directing him to appear before the Town of Somers Court on November 30, 2015.
