Obituary, Mary “Grace” Moore

 

Mary “Grace” Moore, 88 of Malta NY, passed peacefully Saturday, November 7, 2015. Born in Millbrook NY, November 30, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Mariann Spagnola. Grace was a graduate of Millbrook High School and attended the Crane School of Music at Potsdam State Teachers College where she graduated with a degree in Music Education in 1948. She later acquired her certification in Elementary Education. She moved to Rockland County in 1950 where she began teaching. There she met and married her husband and settled in New City, where they raised their three daughters. She was an active member of St Augustine’s Catholic Church, where she enjoyed directing the choir and the music in many of the parish musicals. Her faith was an integral part of the beloved person she was. She moved to Malta NY in 1991, after retiring from a teaching career with the Clarkstown Central School District. In retirement, she enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and friends, and was active in the Academy of Lifelong Learning through the Empire State College until Spring of 2015. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Robert J Moore, her daughter, Lisa J. Breda, son in law, Frank Zimmerman, and brothers, Michael (Mildred) Spagnola and Joseph (Nancy) Spagnola.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen (Glen) Greco of Malta and Terry-Ann Zimmerman of Hampstead, NC, son in law Daryl Breda of Clifton Park, grandchildren, Glen, Alaina, Nicole, Joseph (Samantha), Daniel, Patrick, and Molly, great grandchild, Giovanni, brother Louis (Carolyn) Spagnola of Millbrook and many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Funeral services will be held 10 am Thursday, November 12, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in Ballston Spa Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, November 11, from 5-8 pm at Armer Funeral Home, Inc. 39 High Street, Ballston Spa.
