Castleton man charged with drug possession following traffic stop

Ghent, New York – On November 2, 2015, New York State Police from the New Lebanon barracks arrested Robert J. Hammond Jr., 22 years old, of Castleton, New York, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor, and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, a Violation.

Police stopped the vehicle Hammond was operating on County Route 21 following an erratic vehicle complaint broadcasted by Columbia County 911. Pursuant to an investigation conducted at the scene of the stop, Hammond was found to unlawfully possess marihuana and Xanax.

Hammond was issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Ghent Court on November 23, 2015 at 6:00 p.m.
