PRESS RELEASE

The New York State Police at Monroe, in conjunction with the State Police Barracks in Middletown and Highland, announce the arrest of David M. Peres, age 17, Bert McCormick age 18 and Quaheem M. Washington, age 20 all of Highland Falls, NY for numerous counts of Burglary in the third degree.

The three defendants were arrested following an extensive multi-agency investigation involving the Town of Highlands Police Department, Town of Warwick Police Department and Town of Blooming Grove Police Department in Orange County along with the Town of Plattekill Police Department and Town of Shawangunk Police Department in Ulster County.

David Peres has been charged with 6 counts of Burglary in the third degree in Orange County after breaking into apple orchards in the Towns of Blooming Grove, Warwick and Wawayanda. Bert McCormick was charged with 4 counts of Burglary in the third degree in Orange County and an additional 5 counts of Burglary in the third degree in Ulster County. Quaheem Washington also charged with 5 counts of Burglary in the third degree in Ulster County as numerous orchards were broken into in the Towns of Plattekill, Shawangunk and Gardiner.  Peres was arraigned and remanded to the Orange County Jail while both McCormick and Washington were arraigned and remanded to Ulster County jail.  All three defendants face additional charges from local police agencies and the investigation into additional area burglaries remains on going.
