State Police charge Poughkeepsie woman with unlawfully collecting unemployment benefits

PRESS RELEASE
Poughkeepsie, New York – On October 29, 2015, New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Wappinger barracks arrested Lisa Castanon, 44 years old, of Wappingers Falls, New York, for Grand Larceny in the 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony, and Falsifying Business Records in the 1st Degree, a Class D Felony.

The arrest is a result of a joint investigation conducted by the New York State Department of Labor and the New York State Police.

Castanon is accused of unlawfully collected over $11,000 in unemployment benefits between April of 2013 and November of 2013.   Castanon created false business records by falsely certifying that she was totally unemployed when in fact she was gainfully employed.

Castanon was issued an Appearance Ticket returnable to the Town of Poughkeepsie Court on November 3, 2015, at 4:00 pm.
