Mohegan Lake Man Faces Drug Charge

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Mohegan Lake man on a drug charge.

On October 18, 2015 at 9:24 p.m., Deputy Sheriff Matthew Tunney stopped a motorist who had committed a traffic violation on Bryant Pond Road in the Town of Putnam Valley. During the traffic stop and subsequent investigation, the deputy determined that the driver, identified as Corey R. Policastro, 21, of 3800 Eleanor Drive, Mohegan Lake, New York was in possession of a quantity of a controlled substance. The deputy arrested Mr. Policastro and charged him with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, a misdemeanor. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and later released pending an October 29, 2015 appearance in the Town of Putnam Valley Justice Court to answer the charge.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00.
