Danbury Man Faces Drug Charge

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Danbury man on a drug charge.

On October 17, 2015 at approximately 1:55 a.m., members of the Sheriff’s Department Special Conditions Unit observed suspicious activity in the parking lot of the Towne Center on Route 22 in the Town of Southeast. Further investigation revealed that Bruno L. Souza, 23, of 31 Maple Drive, Danbury, Connecticut was in possession of a quantity of cocaine and was also the subject of a bench warrant issued by the Town of Southeast Justice Court. The defendant was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, a misdemeanor. The defendant was arraigned before Town of Carmel Justice Joseph Spofford and committed to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,750.00 cash or bond pending a future appearance in the Town of Southeast Justice Court to answer the charge.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00.
