Connecticut Woman Charged With DWI

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Connecticut woman on a DWI charge.

On October 8, 2015 at approximately 12:58 a.m., Deputy Sheriff Kevin Radovich observed a motorist commit a series of traffic violations along Route 312 and International Boulevard in the Town of Southeast. Upon initiating a traffic stop, the deputy determined that the driver, identified as Genie L. Taylor, 33, of 5 Mountain Road, Seymour, Connecticut was intoxicated. The deputy further determined that Ms. Taylor had been driving while her privilege to operate a motor vehicle in the State of New York is suspended. The deputy arrested Ms. Taylor and charged her with Driving While Intoxicated and with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Second Degree, misdemeanors, after the woman failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, the defendant faces up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00 for each charge.
