Obituary, Louis V. Grogan

 

Louis V. Grogan, 88, a resident of Pawling since 1940, passed away at his home Sunday, October 11, 2015.

Born in Hudson, NY on December 12, 1926, he was one of four sons born to Louis E. and Loretta (DePasquale) Grogan. Lou graduated from Pawling High School in 1944, and went into the US Army serving in World War II.  Lou married Elizabeth McGrath in St. John’s Church, Pawling on September 6, 1958, and worked as a manager at IBM in Poughkeepsie.

Lou was very interested in trains and railroads, and wrote a book called “The Coming of the New York and Harlem Railroad”.  Lou was a member of the Pawling Knights of Columbus, St. John’s Church, and the Hasler-Kamp Post American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; three sons, Michael Grogan and his wife, Theresa, of Pawling, James E. Grogan of Norfolk, VA, and Kevin Grogan of New Milford, CT; his daughter, Kathleen Ramos of Pawling; four grandchildren, Ashley Grogan and Anthony, Eric, and Margo Ramos; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He is predeceased by his three brothers, John, Joe, and George.

Family and friends may call at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling Wednesday, October 14th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.  The American Legion will conduct a service at 7 PM and the Knights of Columbus at 7:15 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 AM at St. John’s Church, Pawling.  .  l conduct a service at 7 PM and the Knights of Columbus at 7:15 PM.  Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Pawling.
