Patterson Convenience Store Robbed by Gunman

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports that a convenience store in the Hamlet of Patterson was robbed by a masked gunman last evening. Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying the robber.

The robbery happened at about 8:15 PM on Wednesday, October 7th, at Betzi’s Mini Mart, located at 5 Center Street in Patterson. The suspect–a male wearing a black hooded jacket, dark pants and a white mask–entered the store and brandished a handgun. He ordered a female sales clerk to give him money and then left the store with an undisclosed sum of cash. No one was injured in the robbery.

A witness reported that the suspect got into a small automobile–of unknown make, model and color–and drove away from the area on Route 311 with its headlights off. The suspect’s vehicle was last seen turning onto Route 292.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (845) 225-4300. All calls will be kept confidential.
