Marlborough man arrested for sexual abuse of two children

PRESS RELEASE

On October 7, 2015, The Ulster County Family and Child Advocacy Center which is comprised of members from the New York State Police, Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, Child Protective Services and the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office, announce the arrest of ALAN R. EDWARDS, age 61, from Marlborough, NY, for Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree, Sexual Abuse in the First Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.  The investigation is continuing and additional charges are forthcoming.
The Ulster County Family and Child Advocacy Center completed an investigation of sexual abuse to two 9 year old children in the Town of Marlborough.  The children and EDWARDS are known to each other.

EDWARDS was arrested at the SP Kingston Barracks and was arraigned in front of Ulster Town Court Justice Susan Kesick who remanded EDWARDS to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash or $50,000 property bond.  He was ordered to return to the Town of Marlborough Court on October 13, 2015.  EDWARDS was additionally issued an Order of Protection preventing any contact with the victims.

The Ulster County Family and Child Advocacy Center was assisted in the investigation by the Town of Marlborough Police Department.  The case was ultimately turned over to the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office Special Victims Unit.
