Millbrook man arrested following domestic dispute investigation

Millbrook, New York – On October 5, 2015, New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Poughkeepsie barracks arrested Andrew J. Chikotas, 52 years old, of Millbrook, New York, and charged him with  Assault 2nd Degree, a Class D Felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor.

On October 4, 2015 at approximately 11:38 p.m., Troopers were dispatched by Dutchess County 911 to investigate a physical domestic dispute that occurred at a Village of Millbrook residence.  An investigation conducted by responding officers revealed that Chikotas struck the victim in the head with a lamp causing a laceration to her scalp and a fractured arm.  Chikotas fled the apartment prior to police arriving on scene.

Millbrook Rescue Squad transported the victim to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital.

Chikotas was located a short time later and taken into police custody without incident.  He was arraigned before the Town of Pleasant Valley Justice Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $40,000 cash bail over $80,000 bond.  He is due to appear in the Town of Washington Court on October 6, 2015 at 5:00 p.m.
