Wassaic woman charged with burglary and drug possession

Amenia, New York – On October 4, 2015, New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Dover Plains barracks arrested 28-year-old Kristi A. Ball of Wassaic, New York, for Burglary 2nd Degree, a Class C Felony, Tampering with Physical Evidence, a Class E Felony, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor, and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, a Violation.

Troopers were dispatched by Dutchess County 911 to investigate a burglary that occurred in the Town of Amenia.  Troopers interviewed the victim who reports upon returning to her home, she observed that screens had been removed from her windows.  She entered her residence and promptly contacted 911.  While on the phone with 911, she observed Ball walk down the hallway.  Ball had entered the victim’s home and stole prescription medication.  Ball is a family member of the victim’s.  The defendant was taken into custody when police arrived on the scene.

Ball was charged with possessing several controlled substances, burglary, and for attempting to conceal additional stolen medications following her arrest.

Ball was arraigned before the Town of Amenia Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.  She is due to reappear before the Amenia Justice Court on October 9, 2015.
