State Police from Cortlandt investigate Bear Mountain Road collision

Cortlandt, New York – On October 4, 2015 at approximately 5:36 p.m., New York State Police from the Cortlandt barracks responded to Bear Mountain Bridge Road for a reported car / motorcycle collision.

An investigation revealed that 23-year-old Bari A. Mohammed of Brooklyn, New York, was travelling westbound on Bear Mountain Bridge Road while operating a 2011Kawasaki motorcycle.  Mohammed reportedly left the roadway off of the northern shoulder and then re-entered the roadway before crossing the double yellow line into eastbound traffic.  The Kawasaki subsequently struck the rear of a 2011 Nissan Rogue operated by Maureen E. Ariaswolfe of Highland Falls, New York.  Mohammed was ejected from his motorcycle and was located approximately 100 feet down an earth embankment.  A third vehicle, operated by Lawrence A. Neer of San Diego, California, struck Mohammed’s unoccupied motorcycle.

Mohammed was transported by helicopter to Westchester Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.

The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to investigate the crash.

The State Police were assisted by Continental Village Fire Department, City of Peekskill EMS, and the Westchester County Police Department.
