Troopers Arrest Middletown Man for Threatening to Shoot People at Galleria Mall.

New York State Troopers in Middletown arrested a man who threatened to shoot customers at the Galleria Mall. JEFFREY W. BAKER, 21 years of age from Middletown,NY, approached the staff and residents of a group home as they walked through the mall parking lot Sunday afternoon. BAKER confronted the group and stated that he had a pistol and was going to shoot them, while concealing his hand behind him near his waist band. The staff and residents retreated to their vehicle and called the State Police, while BAKER continued to threaten and challenge the group from outside the vehicle. Baker has no known connection to the people or to the group home. Prior to the arrival of the Troopers, BAKER fled into Sears where he confronted two women and threatened to shoot them as well. Troopers located BAKER inside the mall and took him into custody. He was not armed at the time of his arrest and no firearms were located. BAKER was charged with Menacing 3rd degree and Disorderly conduct. He was arraigned in the Town of Wallkill court and remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail.
