Police Officer from Pawling arrested

DANBURY  CT— A city of Danbury  police officer is on administrative leave after being arrested in LaGrange in connection with a series of vehicle break-ins, officials said Wednesday.

Anthony Ramos, 28, of Pawling, N.Y., was charged last week with fourth-degree larceny, a Class E felony, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.

Ramos, who has been an officer in Danbury since 2012, has been placed on paid administrative leave “due to the seriousness of the charges and to protect the integrity of the Danbury Police Department,” the agency said in a released statement.

Ramos and another Pawling man, 25-year-old William Tyson, were arrested about 2 a.m. last Friday after they were found in the area of a vehicle break-in in the town of LaGrange, N.Y., according to a press release.

A Further investigation linked the pair to that larceny and several others from unlocked vehicles in the Town of LaGrange area, according to authorities. Several items believed to have been stolen have been recovered by the sheriff’s department, including GPS devices and pocketbooks.

Ramos and Tyson were released on a promise to appear in court, but the investigation is continuing to determine if either man is connected to other unreported larcenies.

The Danbury Police Department is conducting its own internal investigation on Ramos.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office at 845-486-3820 or 845-605-2583, or email dcsotips@gmail.com.
