1. Today is an “A” Day.
2. Seniors! There is a Pep Rally meeting this Wednesday during 5th period in Mrs. O’Hearn’s room.
3. Senior Honor Society members please stop by Ms. Murray’s room to sign up for a committee. We need everyone to get involved in something. Let’s make this a great year!
4. Middle school Chess Club Thursday in Mrs. Kaan’s room.
5. Optimum is sponsoring the 8th Annual Hispanic Heritage Essay Contest. The contest is open to middle and high school students. There is an opportunity to win a $2,500 scholarship, a laptop computer, a desktop computer or an e-reader. The deadline is November 2nd. Please stop by the guidance office for more information.
6. A representative from the following schools will be visiting today: Keuka College will be in the guidance office on Friday, October 2nd at 8:30 am. Please stop by the guidance office to set up an appointment or if you have any questions!
7. Community Service Opportunity – The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night Walk. Our Dutchess County Walk is on October 17th at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY. The Walk serves to raise money for blood cancer research and improve the lives of patients and their families. All volunteers will be provided with community service hours. Their families are also more than welcome to volunteer! Please stop by the community service office for more information!
8. Attention high school students – Yearbooks are now on sale. Order forms will be sent home next week but if you would like a head start see Ms. Wool for information.
9. The next Middle School Art Club meeting will be on Wednesday, September 30th in room 1144. The sign up sheet is located on the bulletin board across from the middle school band room. Space is limited to 20 students so sign up soon! Only students who sign up may attend this meeting.
10. This is the last week to sign up for the fall session of Driver’s Education. Applications for Driver’s Education are available in the guidance office. Please turn in your application ASAP. Classes are scheduled to begin October 5th.
11. SAT Word of the Day is NOXIOUS. The word means harmful; poisonous; lethal.
12. Attention Dover High School! The Dover High School Drama Club is considering HAIRSPRAY as our musical production this year in March 2016! We will be having a HS Drama Club interest meeting on Thursday, October 1st from 2-3:30 pm. We will be working on vocal and dance techniques in the auditorium. No need to sign up, just show up! This is NOT an audition! Please show up promptly at 2 pm so we can take full advantage of the time we have to get to know each other and learn some awesome music and great dance moves! All students who are interested in joining high school drama club this year are welcome and encouraged to attend! Diversity is out goal! See you all October 1st!
13. Cosplay today after school. Newly elected officers will be announced. Be there and bring your games!
14. Wingdale Elementary is looking for volunteers. Please pick up and fill out an application and return it to the community service office.
15. There will be a Pep Rally meeting for Juniors today during 6th period in Mrs. Kerman’s room. Anyone interested in participating or giving ideas should attend!
