Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Carmel man on a charge of DWAI drugs.

On September 4, 2015 at 8:48 p.m., Deputy Sheriff Thomas Lee stopped a motorist who committed traffic violations on Farmers Mills Road in the Town of Kent. The deputy determined that the driver, identified as Evan M. Simone, 27, of 3 Hazel Lane, Carmel was under the influence of drugs. The deputy arrested Mr. Simone and charged him with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, a misdemeanor, and with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a violation. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, the defendant faces up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00.
