Brook Wood Secure Center resident charged with Assault

PRESS RELEASE
Claverack, New York – On September 1, 2015, New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Livingston barracks arrested Steven Nivar, 20 years old, of Brook Wood Secure Center, for Assault 3rd Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor.

On August 4, 2015, Troopers received a walk-in complaint reporting an assault that occurred at the Brook Wood Secure Center on August 3rd.  Nivar, a resident at the facility, pulled down a recessed fire door striking a Brook Wood staff member in the head.  The staff member was transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital and treated for a concussion.

Nivar was released on an appearance ticket and directed to appear before the Town of Claverack Court on September 3, 2015 at 6:00 p.m.
