Obituary, Kenneth Jasper Tucker

 

On August 29, 2015, with his family by his side, Kenneth Jasper Tucker passed away at the age of 86.  Born in Brooklyn, NY on March 19, 1929, he was the son of Kenneth J and Ada May (Kouwenhoven) Tucker.  His mother affectionately called him “my Buddy.”

Ken proudly served in the Army National Guard after graduating from Madison High School.  Following is honorable discharge, he began his 43 year career at Mobil Oil in NYC moving from the mail room to Senior Sales Executive. He retired in 1990.  While working and raising his family he graduated from the University of Long Island at C.W. Post with a Bachelor of Science degree and a Masters in Business Administration.  Ken also had an Insurance Brokers License and was associated with Marshall and Sterling for many years.

On February 20, 1955 he married Marion Carlson, who passed away in 1973.  Ken was a dedicated family man and always looked forward to spending time with his three sons Kenneth J of Cordova,TN, Kevin of Metuchen, NJ and Arthur (Nancy) of Pawling, NY, and his four wonderful  grandchildren; Christopher, Amanda, and Kathleen of Pawling, and Alexander of Metuchen.  In the early years of their marriage, Ken and Marion made their home in Brooklyn and later moved north to Mt Kisco, NY. But their true joy in life came when they moved year round to their summer home in Pawling Lake Estates.

Golf was his passion.  As a member of Harlem Valley Golf Course and Dutcher Golf Course he belonged to several leagues and enjoyed many rounds with his great friends.  His love of boating led him to Candlewood Lake where he spent many summers cruising with his sons.  Ken was a long time member of the Wappinger Elks Lodge 2609 where he was proud to be installed as the Exalted Ruler in 2003-2004.

On January 30, 2012 he married his long-time companion Linda Johnson. They made their home on beautiful Lake Gaston in North Carolina.

Ken’s friends may share their memories with the family during calling hours, which will be Thursday, September 3rd 2-4 and 7-9 at Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main St, Pawling, NY. An Elks service will take place Thursday night at 8:00 PM.  Prayers will be offered at 10:00 am on Friday, September 4th at Horn & Thomes. Burial will be at Pawling Cemetery.   As per Ken’s request, a party for his family and friends will follow to celebrate his life.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ken’s memory may be made to the Pawling Fire Department.
