Obituary, Esther Jacobsen Morrison

 

 

Esther Jacobsen Morrison, age 90, of Lynchburg went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Aug. 14, 2015. Born in Erie, Pennsylvania, she graduated from Nyack College where she met her future husband, Rev. Wayne Morrison. Their last pastorate was in Carmel, New York. While there, she developed the ladies fellowship, Daughters of Faith, and taught first grade for twelve years in Pawling, New York. They moved to Lynchburg in 1979 where she taught at Lynchburg Christian Academy, worked at the Old-Time Gospel Hour and the Sam Pate advertising agency. She worked with the TRBC Ladies Fellowship, was a trainer for Evangelism Explosion, worked in the counseling room and in the AWANA Club. For fifteen years she conducted a weekly prayer meeting at her home, was a member of the Steadfast Bible Class, and 50 Plus. Through all this, she loved serving her Lord. She was preceded in death by her husband and is survived by two daughters: Marilyn Owen (Herb) and Faith Russo (Jerry), four grandchildren, Timothy and Jonathan Owen, Jenny Currie and Julie McGrath, and 8 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Esther’s Life was held in Pate Chapel at TRBC at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, with a light lunch to follow in Brunner Hall. Interment will be in Middleton, Massachusetts at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Grammy requested that memorial gifts be made to Liberty University c/o Scholarship Funds for Full Time Pastoral Ministry, 1971 University Blvd, Lynchburg, VA 24514.
